Posted on: August 23, 2011

The Choking Game involves an asphyxiation behavior in which a person intentionally cuts off their oxygen flow to the brain, frequently resulting in a loss of consciousness. Also known as the "Pass out Game," the extremely dangerous behavior may cause serious injury or death.CDC: Unintentional Strangulation Deaths (February 15, 2008)

According to the DB Foundation, an organization dedicated to preventing the dangerous behavior, no more than approximately 25 percent of parents have heard of the Choking Game. However, the DB Foundation estimates that up to 75 percent of children between the ages of 9 to 16 years old either know how to play the game, or have actually played game themselves. The DB Foundation: The Choking Game: Pass Out
