China Train Collision

On Monday, April 28, 2008, two high-speed passenger trains collided in eastern China killing at least 70 people and causing hundreds of injuries. Of the injured, 70 are listed in critical condition.
The Collision
The trains were in Zibo in Shandong province when the T195 train, heading for Qingdao, derailed and veered into the 5034 train, heading for Xuzhou, causing it to derail. Nine carriages from the T195 train and five from the 5034 train toppled into a ditch. Passengers wrapped in bed sheets were seen climbing out of the derailed cars shortly after the wreck.
Although terrorism has been ruled out, the cause of the collision is under investigation.
